I absolutely fell in love with this new piece from Pottery Barn and I am convinced that my husband could duplicate for me....but, alas, he is up to his eyeballs in homework. I will have to wait until vacation time:)
These would be perfect in our office! Without the real thing, I got to thinking about what I did have. The Mr. has had an old cubby of his own since before we were married. It was one of those things that stayed hidden in the recesses of the closet. Until one day....inspiration struck.
The wood was kind of faded and it had potential, but no character......yet. Out to the garage we went and little cubby got a makeover with some Dark Walnut stain.
Ahhh, so warm and pretty. I have not added numbers to anything and, so, I took this opportunity to try my hand at it. Sorry no pictures of the process, but all I did was use a simple stencil that I cut each # from and taped to the center of each drawer. Here is the result:I used plain ol' acrylic paints and a sponge brush. When I removed the stencil, the paint was a little splotchy. I decided I wanted more of an aged look and rubbed some sandpaper lightly over the #'s and then went back over it with my stain.
Love the new look! Do you have anything to show & tell? Today's the day! Head on over to Cindy's blog and check out all of the other show & and tellers! Also, linked up with Hooked on Houses. Happy Friday!

So cute with the numbers!
I love the cubby and I especially love the way you put the kind of faint numbers on them, so clever and really adds that special touch. I have become a new follower, come visit me, I'ed love to have you...Phyllis

The numbers totally MAKE the piece! What a great idea! I keep seeing numbers painted on things, but I keep forgetting how much I like it until I see yet another example of it. :)
